For quite some time PC World has been taking notes and keeping track of the best gadgets out in the market. PC World’s top tens range from the thetop ten Android entertainment apps all the way to the top ten Chrome browser addons.
Probably the most controversial top ten list that PC World carries is theirTop Ten Cell Phones. I personally found this list to be unbiased unlike its counter part’s top 5 cell phone list. So i was not so shocked to see that the iPhone 4 had regained the ground that the iPhone 3GS once tread upon. However I was shocked to see that after the iPhone 4 press conference the iPhone 4 was no where to be found. Thats right, it was yanked from the number one spot.
This event occurred not to long after Apple ranted about how popular sites such as PC World listed high reviews for the iPhone 4. So then the next question is why? Why would they pull down the iPhone 4 even though the attenuation issues was long ago reported?
Ginny Mies and Melissa Perenson, PC World reviews were both unhappy with the response that Apple gave regarding the iPhone 4 issues. Its possible that they themselves believed that Apple would have given a more definite fix to its antenna issue and more of a response to its other issues such as the proximity censor.
They also believed that this issue is an iPhone 4 specific glitch rather than a universal cell phone issue. While Apple did showcase several phones that displayed the issue, they were unable to to reproduce that same problem during the Q&A session after the press conference last Friday. However lets give Apple the benefit of the doubt. While those Phones have to be held in a particular manor all that is needed is one finger to get the iPhone 4 to lose its signal.
Both reviews bought the iPhone 4 but Melissa expirecned sevreal problems with her iPhone 4 series of iPhone 4s. She is actually on her 4th iPhone 4. They also added that they will not re recommend the iPhone 4 until Apple comes up with a more suitable fix.
What do you iPhone 4 users think? Is PC World being fair?

Now that the iPhone 4 is in Canada, and people can now compare the problem using multiple carriers, I think the “problem” may lead to a weak signal issue with AT&T, and not specifically to the iPhone.
In a weak signal area, it makes sense that any interference will cause a signal to degrade.
In a high signal area, this is probably not an issue.
Unfortunately, the consensus in the US is that AT&T has notorious weak signal coverage, which would affect a phone that may lose it’s signal in weak signal areas.
Early reports in Canada are that the “antenna problem” isn’t a problem here. That would suggest that the weak signal problem is a contributor and that people are overblowing the problem and blaming Apple for an issue that can be identified, and addressed with a bit of common sense.

FACT: My iPhone 3G has no trouble with signal. I almost never drop calls.
FACT: My coworkers (notice the plural; more than one.) with iPhone 4s repeatedly drop calls even while sitting right next to me.
CONCLUSION: iPhone 4 is flawed in some way. And while signal strength may aggravate the situation further, it is an iPhone 4 problem, not a signal strength problem.
Stop belittling the facts. Apple made a terrible mistake with the iPhone 4. Their arrogance and lack of respect for customers has already cost them one: me. As soon as my contract is up, I will be buying a new phone from Google or Microsoft (Phone 7) and I promise I’ll never be coming back.

Has any of you here really tried your hand at the iphone4? How are the functions? I really would love to get one personally nonetheless I’m truly skeptical concerning antenna trouble. Any idea if Apple’s gonna remedy a repair?

Easy to say when you haven’t used those devices, Dave. All gadgets have their pluses and minuses. The iPhone 4 just has fewer.
